UCLA-Oregon, First Quarter

Kai Forbath took the opening kick, instead of Jimmy Rotstein. Forbath’s kick sailed to the Oregon 10-yard line.

Jeremiah Masoli is starting but look for Justin Roper to see some action tonight.

UCLA gets good pressure on its first third down, and linebacker Akeem Ayers sacks Masoli for a 12 yard loss. That’s the second sack of Ayers’ career.

That sack is huge because it sets UCLA up in decent field position. Forcing Oregon to play long fields will be very important for the Bruins to keep this one close.

UCLA just challenged the spot of its 2nd down completion and lost a timeout when the call was not over-turned. It was probably a smart move by the Bruin coaches regardless, as it gave the offense a moment to catch its breath for an important third and short situation.

UCLA has converted two consecutive third downs and moved to the Oregon 35. This will certainly benefit the Bruins’ in terms of field position, regardless of the drive’s outcome.

The massive jumbotron at Autzen Stadium isn’t working and it’s flashing a faint light- kind of like a strobe light- all over the stadium.

Kai Forbath got great distance on his 47-yard field goal try but pushed it wide right. I guess I spoke to soon on that field position- Oregon will take over at its own 30 yard line.

That jumbotron has now been turned off completely.

A 15-yard facemask penalty on UCLA safety Brett Lockett has setup the Ducks with first and goal.

Jeremiah Masoli just ran for the first touchdown of his career. Masoli ran four times on that nine play, 70-yard scoring drive.

Oregon kicker Matt Evensen just kicked out-of-bounds and that will setup UCLA with great field position. Bruins’ wideout Gavin Ketchum decked Oregon’s Garret Embry on the kick coverage.

UCLA went four quarters without allowing a sack last week against Washington State but that streak just ended a Oregon’s Nick Reed dragged Kevin Craft to the ground to force a punt. Reed now has a sack in six consecutive games.

Masoli just broke another big run. The Bruins are struggling with Masoli’s mobility and fake handoffs.

A big win for the UCLA defense on third and short, as they’ve forced Oregon to tried a 42-yard field goal.

Evenson misses the kick and that makes it 0-2 for kickers tonight at Autzen Stadium.

UCLA tight end Jeff Miller just caught the first pass of his career. But UCLA was forced to punt on fourth down and two.

The UCLA defense is just befuddled by Oregon’s zone-read offense. Bruin defensive end Regginald Stokes just bit on a fake as Masoli raced past him for 16 yards.

UCLA has scored just one offensive touchdown in the first quarter this season.
