Practice Notes

Everyone seemed a little happier today, happier to be back at practice after more than two days thinking about UCLA’s 59-0 loss at BYU. Here are some notes from the practice.

– Neuheisel said he was happy to see everybody show up, and that he was impressed with the team’s effort. "We’re going to stop talking about the past. We’re 1-1," he said.

– Starting runningback Khalil Bell is somewhere between probable and doubtful for Saturday’s game against Arizona, Neuheisel said. It sounds liek coaches are concerned with Bell re-injuring himself, so they do not want to rush him back. Bell did participate for the first half of practice today, then he left to ice his injured left ankle.

– Runningback Raymond Carter did not practice because of a bruised right knee.

– Linebacker Kyle Bosworth is doubtful for Saturday. It looks like Steve Sloan will start at middle linebacker and Reggie Carter will move to weakside. Akeem Ayers practiced at strong side linebacker today, because John Hale has an injured neck.

– Center Micah Reed will not play against Arizona. That will only hurt the Bruins’ already ailing running game. As Neuheisel said bluntly after practice, "when you’re last in the NCAA in rushing, that’s a concern.
