Restaurant reopens following inspection

Yamato Restaurant in Westwood reopened Monday evening after an inspection by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed that the eatery had been cleared of a cockroach infestation discovered last week.

On Thursday, a public health inspector found live cockroaches in the restaurant located at 1099 Westwood Blvd., requiring it to close for at least 48 hours. Signs of cockroaches were still found during a follow-up inspection on Saturday, said LeTaun Cotton, an environmental health service manager for the health department.

During a third inspection Monday afternoon, officials found no remnants of cockroaches, Cotton said. The restaurant opened its doors at 5 p.m. for dinner, she added.

The manager of Yamato was not available to immediately reply to requests for comment.
