A fatal collision between a motorcycle and a car Thursday night caused police to close portions of Westwood Boulevard, between Wilshire Boulevard and Wellworth Avenue, for more than four hours.
The motorcyclist, a 19-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Los Angeles Fire Department statement. He was not a UCLA student, said UCPD officer Jim Lunnen.
The driver of the black SUV, a 21-year-old woman who police said was also not affiliated with UCLA, sustained no physical injuries, officials said.
The car was making a left turn on Ashton Avenue when the motorcyclist, traveling south on Westwood Boulevard, hit the back right side of the car, said LAPD Sgt. Elizabeth Ellis.
Witnesses told police the motorcycle was traveling at a high speed, said Rosa Moreno, an LAPD officer.
Ellis said the driver was not being charged at the time. An investigation was ongoing as of press deadline.
