The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government of UCLA’s undergraduate students. Council meetings are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students.
Agenda
- This week’s contingency allocations were approved unanimously.
- Travel Grants were approved this week for CALPIRG and Bruin Democrats.
Officer Reports
- President Emily Resnick said $3,000 in funds that were not used for Homecoming will be returned to the surplus fund. She said her office will put out a survey to get student feedback about homecoming.
- Kristina Sidrak, internal vice president, said the council is working with the Center for Student Programming to address campus climate issues. Sidrak said UCLA will outsource email accounts to Gmail and is now working to implement that switch. She added that Strathmore Safe Rides will begin this week.
- Joelle Gamble, external vice president, said her office will be meeting with a member of the UC Board of Regents next week. Gamble announced that Nov. 14-18 will be a “Week of Action” advocating for funding of higher education.
- Raquel Saxe, academic affairs commissioner, said the vote on the community and conflict in the modern world requirement was postponed until Nov. 18. Saxe said she is working to start a Covel math tutoring pilot program by spring.
Special Presentations
- UC Student Regent Alfredo Mireles Jr. and Jonathan Stein, student regent-designate, presented about the budget problems facing the UC and called for students to make their voices heard. They said no vote on a long-term budget plan will be taken until 2012.
