This board endorses Tamir Sholklapper for Student Welfare commissioner, but with some recommendations.
Sholklapper, the only candidate for this office, has impressive qualifications as a lifeguard and an emergency medical technician. His platforms address important issues such as reducing stigmas associated with mental health and strengthening student safety on campus.
However, this board recommends that Sholklapper learn more about both USAC and the Student Welfare office to better evaluate how they both work within the framework of the campus. When asked if he had any critique of this year’s SWC, Sholklapper had nothing to say.
Some of his ideas, such as doing more to stop the spread of disease on campus, need more specificity. Details concerning these issues were not evident in our interview.
