Rowing to take on USC before championships

Saturday is shaping up as quite the day for the UCLA rowing team.

It will be the No. 18 Bruins’ Senior Day, and they will face their toughest opponent of the year. On top of that, No. 4 USC is far from a friendly foe.

The Bruins will host the Women of Troy at Marina Del Rey to close out the regular season. It will mark the second time UCLA and USC face off this year but the first head-to-head matchup.

The teams will compete in six races ““ two varsity fours, two varsity eights, one novice eight and one novice four ““ with the first race starting at 8:15 a.m.

A year ago, USC swept four races against UCLA in San Pedro.

The meet will be UCLA’s last before Pacific Coast Rowing Championships and Pac-10 Championships, which will be held May 13 and 14, respectively, in Rancho Cordova.
