The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government of UCLA’s undergraduate students. Council meetings are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students.
Agenda
“¢bull; Finance Committee Chair Ronald J. Arruejo’s contingency allocations were approved with a vote of 12-0-0. Rules were suspended to allow the council to retroactively fund the Jewish Student Union.
“¢bull; The Office Space Allocation Committee’s allocations were approved unanimously. The committee plans to release an additional round of locker and mailbox applications to fill all unoccupied spaces.
“¢bull; The Resolution in Support of Decreasing the Voluntary Pledge System Agreement for UCLA’s chapter of CALPIRG was approved with a vote of 12-0-0. The resolution will decrease the participant threshold from 15 percent to 10 percent, allowing action to be taken with fewer students pledging.
“¢bull; The council voted to add two advisory votes to the upcoming elections ballot. One, proposed by the Den, addresses relocating the student section of the gym from the north side to the east side, behind the basketball hoop. The other, proposed by the Student Alliance for Diversity, deals with replacing one of the College of Letters and Science’s historical/social analysis general education requirement with a diversity component.

“¢bull; The external vice president’s office is working with the University of California Student Association and the California Teachers Association to push legislators toward generating additional revenue for higher education.
“¢bull; Academic Affairs Commissioner Suza Khy hopes to obtain priority enrollment for parenting students. Khy’s office is also looking for alternative funding opportunities for tutoring in Covel Commons.
Special Presentations
“¢bull; The Student Alliance for Diversity presented a proposal to gauge student interest in a diversity-focused component to the College’s general education requirements. The Alliance hopes to put pressure on faculty and the Academic Senate to consider adding the component to the historical/social analysis general education category.
