Peace Corps: more than helping hands

Spending 27 months in a developing country, oftentimes living in dismal conditions without electricity or running water is quite a big commitment. But more than 1,700 UCLA graduates have fulfilled the international Peace Corps duty. This ranks UCLA eighth among campuses nationwide for providing Peace Corps volunteers. This year, as the Peace Corps approaches its 50th anniversary, 58 UCLA alumni are serving in 36 different countries around the world.

Here’s a look at the stories of three Bruins, two of which have returned from the Peace Corps and one who has yet to leave.
