Members of the men’s and women’s cross country teams will represent UCLA at multiple meets this weekend.
While some runners will remain in California and participate in the Bronco Invitational in Santa Clara on Sunday, others will travel to Terre Haute, Ind. for the Pre-National Invitational.
The Pre-National Invitational will feature the top men’s and women’s teams in the nation. No. 1 Stanford and No. 5 Northern Arizona will compete in the men’s race, along with several other nationally prominent teams. The men’s team is currently No. 26 in the country.
Senior Jake Matthews and juniors Dylan and Spencer Knight are among the eight members of the men’s team who will compete for UCLA.
The women’s race will also include many nationally-ranked teams, including No. 6 Arizona and No. 11 Iowa State. The women’s team sends seven members, including senior Shannon Murakami and freshmen Sierra Vega and Amber Murakami.
The men will begin their race at 9:10 a.m. and the women will start at 8 a.m.
The Bruins have had recent success in Indiana, where the men’s team finished sixth and the women’s team finished 12th in the Notre Dame Invitational on Oct. 1. Prior to that meet, the men’s team finished fourth and the women’s team finished fifth at the Stanford Invitational on Sept. 25.
UCLA will also participate in Sunday’s Bronco Invitational. Senior Cory Primm and freshmen Pablo Rosales and Philip MacQuitty are part of the group of six members of the men’s team that will compete. The women’s team also has six members competing, including junior Taryn Pastoor, sophomore Allie Lopez and freshman Elle Sanders.
