Columnist needs to clean up her act

Am I the only one who will voice his opinion regarding the content that columnist Lara Loewenstein publishes? Her articles consistently degrade The Bruin and turn off both current and prospective students.

For example, her latest piece (“There’s more to casual sex than you may think,” April 26) is a vile ensemble of loose thoughts and opinions attempting to convince the reader that a “casual” hookup between two male strangers in a public bathroom is not only becoming increasingly common, but that it’s morally acceptable.

Loewenstein, please do UCLA a favor and stop writing such trash, and please do yourself a favor and clean up your act.

Hypocritical to keep criminals out

I was amused by your “Quote to Note” (April 27) in which Australian Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews offers this explanation for his government’s decision to bar rapper Snoop Dogg from entering Australia: “He doesn’t seem the sort of bloke we want in this country.”

How self-righteous of the minister to suggest that anyone with a criminal background, albeit rehabilitated, ought not set foot in a nation settled in the first place by criminals shipped from England.
