Man stabbed during attempted robbery in Lot 1

A person was stabbed during an attempted robbery in Lot 1 on Sept. 19, according to university police.

Police, who believe it was an isolated incident, received a report of an assault around 10:40 a.m. in Lot 1 at 720 Gayley Avenue.

According to the crime alert, the suspect smashed the victim’s truck window and removed a backpack while the victim was sleeping. When the victim went after the suspect, he was stabbed with an unknown object in the upper arm area.

The victim was treated and released from the hospital, but detectives are still looking for the suspect, who was wearing unknown-type dark clothing.

Nancy Greenstein, director of police community services for university police, said police had found people matching the description, but the victim was unable to identify the suspect.
