Petty theft Four cell phones, five parking
passes, two wallets and two backpacks were stolen during this
period. Losses totaled $488. A cell phone and miscellaneous
property, worth $568, were stolen from the A-level of Ackerman
Union on Saturday. Someone stole a wallet, a cell phone, two DVDs
and two glasses from a complex on the 600 block of Gayley Avenue on
Thursday. Losses totaled $120. Someone stole a face plate and a
radio from a 1987 Honda Accord sometime between Wednesday and
Thursday. An unknown suspect removed a medical record from 200
Medical Plaza Wednesday. Someone removed an envelope with $300 cash
inside from the Biomedical Library on Jan. 3. Someone removed the
rear plate from a vehicle in Lot 32 on Jan. 7 or 8. On Jan. 2,
someone stole a stereo and speakers, worth a total of $300, from
the rehabilitation center on the 1000 block of Westwood Avenue. A
$300 white Trek Mountain bike, parked outside the John Wooden
Center, was stolen Jan. 7.
Grand theft Someone entered a Gayley Avenue
apartment through an unlocked window and removed $1,250 in
miscellaneous property sometime between Friday and Sunday. Someone
stole a stereo and damaged the dashboard of a 1994 black Honda
Civic on Friday. The losses totaled $1,460. On Thursday, someone
stole an $800 stereo from a 1997 Acura Integra parked in Lot 8. On
Jan. 7, someone reported stolen a Palm Pilot and laptop computer,
which was last seen in Franz Hall. The loss totaled $4,050. Police
received a report Jan. 7 that someone stole a CD player and video
screen from a 2000 black Yukon parked in Lot 2. A $1,500 scooter
was stolen from the parking area near Ackerman Union Jan. 6.
Someone stole a $3,500 computer from Young Hall sometime between
Jan. 4 and 7. Someone removed a backpack and its contents, valued
at $1,882, from a house on the 600 block of Gayley Avenue on Jan.
3. Someone stole a backpack and its contents, worth a total of
$580, from the Young Research Library on Jan. 2. Someone stole
electronic equipment from two rooms on the second floor of the
Botany building between Jan. 1 and 2. The losses totaled $2,416.
Someone stole a $920 stereo, from a car parked in the Sunset
Village structure between Dec. 30 and Jan. 2. Someone stole a
$2,149 laptop computer from Franz Hall sometime between Dec. 20 and
Jan. 7.
Miscellaneous Someone reportedly refused to pay
a tow-truck driver and blocked the driver from entering a Westwood
gas station on Sunday. The suspect was later cited for a plate
violation. Police responded to a call alleging “loud
basketball playing and possible minors drinking” at a complex
on Strathmore Avenue Saturday. Someone found 1.3 ounces of rock
cocaine near a Westwood market Friday. The cocaine was booked as
evidence. Someone punched a victim while the two were in line to
get food at Lu Valle Commons on Friday. A VHS surveillance tape was
booked as evidence. Two people destroyed faucets in the men’s
bathroom on the second floor of the College Library on Jan. 7.
