The UCLA women’s golf team won The Duel, a three-team
competition held at the Valley Course at Robinson Ranch.

The No. 2 Bruins had a team score of 293, 11 strokes better than
No. 9 USC and 30 strokes better than Cal State Northridge.

Individually, UCLA’s Susie Mathews and
Charlotte Mayorkas shot an even-par 72. The two
tied with Northridge’s Beth Allen for the
best score at The Duel.

Bruin freshman Hannah Jun scored a 2-over par
74 and senior Gina Umeck posted a 75. Senior
Krystal Shearer recorded a 78 and Saki
Uechi
scored a 79.

Yvonne Choe and Hana Kim,
playing as individuals, posted scores of 76 and 78,
respectively.

UCLA returns to action Monday, the first day of the Pac-10
Championships. The three-day event will be held at Saticoy Country
Club.

WOMEN’S SOCCER: The UCLA women’s
soccer team won a spring exhibition match 1-0 against the Chinese
Under-19 National Team at the North Athletic Field on Tuesday.

UCLA forward Bristyn Davis scored the only goal
with three minutes remaining in the match.

The Bruins continue their spring schedule on Saturday, when they
face Cal State Fullerton at 11:30 a.m. and Cal State Bakersfield at
2:30 p.m. Both matches will be at Cal State Fullerton.

PAC-10 FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: The Bruins
swept the Pac-10 Field Athletes of the week, when senior
Dan Ames won the men’s award and sophomore
Sheena Gordon won the women’s award on
Tuesday.

Ames, a thrower, had a personal best in the shot put Saturday,
when he threw 66 feet, 1 inch at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner
Kersee Invitational. The mark makes him the national collegiate
leader and is the fifth highest in school history.

Ames also had a season-best in the hammer (199-11).

Gordon won the high jump Saturday with a personal best jump of
6-1.25. The jump is tied for the third best mark in school
history.

MEN’S GOLF: The UCLA Blue Team won its
third title of the spring when it took first at the Wyoming Cowboy
Classic at the Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The Bruins had a 54-hole score of 829 (11-under par), beating
Drake by 16 strokes.

Individually, UCLA freshman Joakim Renstrom
finished third overall with a 4-under par 206. Senior
Travis Johnson tied for fourth place with a
3-under 207. Freshman Chris Heintz tied for eighth
place (1-under, 209) and Peter Campbell tied for
13th (even-par, 210). Sophomore Breene Murphy
rounded out the Bruin lineup and tied for 28th (4-over par
215).

Cal Poly’s Travis Bertoni took the
individual title with a 6-under par 204.
