Art

“¢bull; Part of the UCLA Department of Art lecture series, there
will be a lecture by artist Sam Durant, an L.A.-based artist of
drawings, models, installations, sculpture and photography. He will
discuss his work in relation to current cultural trends. Thursday,
Nov. 21, 7 p.m. UCLA Hammer Museum.

“¢bull; Principals of Servo, a research and design collaborative
of four designers living, working, and teaching in Los Angeles, New
York, Stockholm and Zurich, will be speaking in 1302 Perloff Hall
tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Film

“¢bull; The UCLA Film Archive will screen “The Captain
Hates the Sea” (1934), directed by Lewis Milestone in
addition to a series of short films from the 1930s on Tuesday, Nov.
19 at 7:30 p.m. in the James Bridges Theater.

“¢bull; Sneak preview of “Friday After Next,” the
third film in the “Friday” series starring Ice Cube,
will be shown in Ackerman Grand Ballroom on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 8

Music

“¢bull; Janet Klein will be armed with a ukulele and her
loose-knit group of Parlor Boys to recreate songs from the 1910s,
’20s and ’30s Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in the

“¢bull; Har Mar Superstar will perform in Westwood Plaza
Wednesday, Nov. 20 at noon. His live act consists of him strutting
around onstage in his underwear, a practice that got him banned
from the Minnesota State Fair this summer and arrested while

Theater

“¢bull; Third-year MFA students in the theater department
continue their run of two plays in repertory. “Marriage of
Bette and Boo” by Christopher Durang is a comedy about family
and matrimony and has remaining performances on Nov. 21 and 22 at 8
p.m. and Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. A spoof on sexual liaisons, “Cloud
Nine” by Caryl Churchill will be performed Nov. 19, 20, 23 at
8 p.m. All performances are in the Little Theater in Macgowan Hall.
Tickets are $17 general, $7 students, and $10 rush. For tickets

“¢bull; UCLA’s chapter of the V-Day Campaign (a national
day and movement to raise awareness and end violence against
females) is holding auditions for “The Vagina
Monologues.” All students, staff and faculty are invited to
participate. Auditions will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20 9-11 a.m. in
3517 Ackerman, 1-3 p.m. in 131 Kerckhoff, 3-5 p.m. in 2408 Ackerman
