Salim Stoudamire and Hassan Adams reached personal milestones
and got Arizona back on track. On Thursday Stoudamire became the
11th basketball player in school history to reach 1,500 points and
Adams passed the 1,000-point plateau as No.16 Arizona dropped
Pac-10 rival USC, 77-68. Stoudamire, a senior, scored 21 points and
electrified the home crowd with a thunderous left-handed dunk. He
followed that with a three-pointer from the left corner to give the
Wildcats, who were coming off an 11-point loss at Stanford on
Saturday, a 59-49 lead with 9:05 remaining. Chris Rogers scored a
career-high 22 and Adams added 15 for Arizona.
Washington 77, Oregon 56 Tre Simmons and Bobby
Jones each scored 15 points, and Nate Robinson and Jamaal Williams
added 14 apiece, leading No. 14 Washington to a 77-56 victory over
Oregon on Thursday night. Simmons added a career-high 12 rebounds,
and Jones, usually Washington’s defensive stopper, was 2-of-3
from 3-point range to help the Huskies (14-2, 4-1 Pac-10) win their
16th straight at home.
Wash. St. 63, Oregon St. 45 Jeff Varum led the
Cougars with 14 points. The Cougars are now in fourth place in the
Pac-10.
