This editorial board commends the opening of the UCLA Blood and Platelet center on Monday, and we commend all of those who donated. This will be a valuable service to our campus and to our community.
The center is specifically catered to students. It is supposed to be an extension of Ackerman Union, where students can sit down and relax, as well as take part in an important mission.
The expense and effort put into the center’s creation cannot possibly outweigh the good it will do and the lives it will save.
We encourage students and community members to learn more about blood and platelet donation and to stop by the center to do their part in saving lives.
Though the process may be uncomfortable, especially for those who are squeamish about needles and blood, the results are well worth the sacrifice.
We are excited to see the potential of the center and are confident that its opening will be a boon to our community. More information is available at gotblood.ucla.edu
