Westwood car chase ends in crash
A motorist sped through Westwood and was chased by Los Angeles
Police Department officers Friday morning before smashing into a
car parked on Landfair Avenue to end the pursuit, eyewitnesses
said.
The chase ended around 9 a.m. Friday when the black compact car
crashed into a vehicle in front of 424 Landfair Ave. Officers drew
their guns and ordered the driver out of the car, witnesses
said.
Tim Tang, a third-year business economics student, said his
silver Honda was totalled in the incident. “I’m
shocked,” he said. “I woke up when I heard a
screech.”
An LAPD spokeswoman said there was no record of the incident
registered with LAPD Central Command, but detectives investigating
the case would have more information today.
Nancy Greenstein, spokeswoman for university police, said UCPD
was not involved in the incident.
LAX considers mail-back plan
Los Angeles International Airport may allow passengers to mail
themselves prohibited items that they must turn over at security
checkpoints.
Airport officials say they are considering a mail-back program,
in part because of a ban on lighters on commercial aircraft. They
will meet this week to discuss the possibility, according to The
Daily Breeze in Torrance.
