Petty theft Four cellular phones, three wallets
and four parking permits were stolen this period, totalling losses
of $200. Someone stole $350 in clothes from a student
resident’s room in Dykstra Hall on Apr. 16. That same day,
someone stole a pair of shoes from Copeland Sports.
Grand theft Someone stole a $1,300 laptop
computer from a Westwood apartment Saturday. On Friday, someone
stole $22,500 worth of jewelry from a room in the Center for Health
Sciences. That same day, someone stole $1,270 out of a cash bag
from the Santa Monica Hospital Cashier. Someone stole $5,334 in
stereo equipment from a car parked in Lot 11 on Thursday. On
Wednesday, a suspect used someone’s information to set up a
credit card account, totalling losses of $2,403. Someone stole
$30,000 in jewelry from a room in the Center for Health Sciences on
Apr. 16. Also on Apr. 16, someone stole a $538 backpack from the
Young Research Library.
Miscellaneous Someone from the UCLA emergency
room reported a rape to university police early Monday morning.
When the police arrived, the victim had apparently left and no
report was recorded. A car in Westwood was spray-painted Sunday.
Several people reported graffiti throughout Kerckhoff Hall and the
men’s rest room in the Center for Health Sciences on Friday.
Someone spray-painted a vehicle on Landfair Avenue on Friday. That
same day, three people were seen trying to break open the vending
machines at the Bombshelter. Someone reported seeing anti-Semitic
messages in Lot 4 Friday. Police caught someone peeping into the
women’s rest rooms in Royce Hall Thursday. Someone was held
at gunpoint in a basement on Gayley Avenue on Apr. 15. The suspect
was caught and is being held on $30,000 bail.
