The Westwood Village Improvement Association is a nonprofit organization tasked with improving the state of Westwood Village. Property and business owners created the association in 2011 to provide the Village with functions the city of Los Angeles could not provide. Its board of directors meets monthly.
- Andrew Thomas, the association’s executive director, said Route 18 of the Big Blue Bus is planned to be moved to the north side of Gayley and Le Conte avenues, and that the association is working with UCLA Transportation to see if the stop could be merged with another stop currently on the north side.
- Thomas also said the Broxton public parking structure is expected to be repaired and resurfaced by the end of 2018.
- The association has obtained approvals from the city to install new branded recycling cans in Westwood.
- Dean Abell, representative of Sarah Leonard Fine Jewelers, said the Clean, Safe, and Beautiful Committee gathered an estimate for removal of the concrete on the Westwood Boulevard median, but wants to look for further collaboration with the city on the project.
- Kiran Mistry, development and sponsorship officer for student affairs at UCLA, said the Westwood Village/UCLA Block Party was a success, with around 12,000 students in attendance. 2,000 more students than last year went to the event, and many more merchants participated as well, Mistry added.
- The Board voted to approve the annual budget as well as the annual planning report for 2019.
