Cheer on Bruins to show appreciation For all of
those Bruin Football fans who were disheartened by this past
weekend’s loss at Arizona, keep this in mind: had we started
8-1 under other circumstances, most Bruin fans would have been
ecstatic. While dreams of a national championship were fun to mull
around, the next two games are not inconsequential. As students,
alumni and fans alike, we have to continue to support this team
over its next two games. A full Rose Bowl next week against ASU
will give much-deserved thanks to this year’s team and could
cement an incredible recruiting class for Coach Dorrell. The
blue-chip recruits who were captivated by our 8-0 start were more
than impressed by the enthusiasm of UCLA’s fan base.
Supporting the Bruins after a discouraging loss gives our top
recruits encouragement to come to UCLA and give Bruin fans the
National Championship we all so desperately wanted this season.

Fans need to keep bandwagon rolling It’s
time that we as Bruin fans stay on the bandwagon. If you watch any
Southeastern Conference Game, every game is the same, as home team
students and fans pack their stadiums each and every week,
regardless of their team’s record. Every one of the 12
stadiums is a place that would make me think twice before going in
there as a visiting team fan. While it was refreshing to see the
television cameras on Oct. 8 as students went wild during the
fourth quarter of the win over Cal, I would love to see a day where
our team has the undying support of our Southern California fans
and to see the Rose Bowl become a place that opposing fans hate to
come and visit. I know it may be too much to ask for an SEC-like
environment at the Rose Bowl, but in the least, please give
Southern California fans a better name, and do not jump off the
Bruin bandwagon. Daniel Matsuoka UCLA class of
