UCLA men’s golf must improve in order to make finals

If the NCAA East Regional ended Thursday, the top-seeded UCLA men’s golf team would not earn a trip to Chattanooga, Tenn. for the NCAA Championships in two weeks. Only the top five teams from regionals advance to the Championship, and No. 6 UCLA is currently tied at sixth with No. 19 Virginia after shooting 282 (+2) in the first round.

Sophomore Alex Kim led with 67 (-3) to tie for fourth. Freshman Mario Clemens carded 71 (+1) tying for 27th. Sophomore Gregor Main and freshmen Pedro Figueiredo and Pontus Widegren each tied for 40th with a 72 (+2).
