USAC Recap

The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government of UCLA’s undergraduate students. Council meetings are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students.

Agenda

“¢bull; Richard Stevenson was unanimously appointed to the Student Fee Advisory Committee.

“¢bull; The contingency fund allocation passed with a unanimous vote of 10-0-0.

Special Presentations

“¢bull; The Green Initiative Fund provided $222,820.90 to 12 new programs this quarter to help UCLA become more sustainable. The money will go toward providing the Jazz Reggae Festival with compost materials for their vendors, subsidies for refillable mugs and installing solar panels on Ackerman.

“¢bull; CALPIRG made a presentation urging USAC to pass a resolution to increase the new member pledge fee to $10 in order to cover costs and expand programming. The council passed the resolution by a vote of 10-0-0.

Officer Reports

“¢bull; President Cinthia Flores is meeting with Chancellor Gene Block this week to discuss the number of initiatives that took place this year. She will also be distributing a newsletter by the end of this week that reviews the completion of her platforms.

“¢bull; The office of the internal vice president extended the audition deadline for singers interested in performing at graduation.

“¢bull; The external vice president’s office wrote Assembly Bill 2477, to mandate Cal Grants in cooperation with USA.

“¢bull; General Representative 3’s office is working in conjunction with various UCs in facilitating the Haiti Summit which will be held on Saturday at UC San Francisco. Delegates will discuss methods to offer help to Haiti.
