The Westwood Village Improvement Association is a nonprofit organization tasked with improving the state of Westwood Village. Property and business owners created the association in 2011 to provide the Village with functions the city of Los Angeles could not provide. Its board of directors meets monthly.
- Lisa Chapman, president of the Westwood Neighborhood Council, recommended the association give Emmanuel Bautista, the current manager of the Westwood Village Farmers Market, 18 months to continue managing the market.
- Jim Brooks said the Clean, Safe and Beautiful Committee is working on rebranding recycling bins in the Village.
- Brooks said the committee helped eliminate the need for Verizon to construct cell towers in the Village. Brooks added Verizon will install signal boosters on existing structures instead of constructing cell towers in the Village.
- Brooks also said the committee introduced the Westwood Village Everywhere app, which allows users to report maintenance issues in the Village to the association.
- The board approved raising assessments for 2018 by 5 percent, the first increase since 2011.
- The board voted to contract with South Coast Paving for sidewalk reconstruction in the Village.
- The board voted to approve the Business Attraction and Retention Committee’s recommendation to enter into an agreement with Farmer Mark to manage the Westwood Village Farmers Market.
