In preparation for next week’s LA Tennis Open, which will be held at the Los Angeles Tennis Center, tournament organizers have been preparing the venue for its 25th year at UCLA.

Crews from Cort Furniture Rental will complete the installation of the temporary bleachers and preparation of the luxury boxes on the east end of the stadium today, Cort designer Vanessa Escalera said.

The temporary seats cover the two eastern-most courts in Straus Stadium and provide additional seating to the approximately 5,800 permanent seats in the form of box seats, terrace tables and luxury suites.

With seating also available at the other courts in the L.A. Tennis Center, the tournament will be able to accommodate approximately 10,000 people.

The tournament opens with two days of qualifying matches on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets for both qualifying days are free.

Pete Sampras is headlining the July 27 official opening night of the tournament. Sampras, who has not played at the Los Angeles Tennis Center since winning the Mercedes Benz Cup, the predecessor of the LATO, in 1999, held the world record for most major championships won until Roger Federer defeated Andy Roddick in the July 5 Wimbledon championship.

Following the qualifying rounds, the tournament will be broken up into day and night sessions. Single-day tickets to the day session cost $25 for the first two rounds, $40 for the quarterfinals and $55 for the semifinals, while evening session tickets cost $40 for the first two rounds, $55 for the quarterfinals and semifinals.

Tickets for the championship on August 2 will cost $60.

All tickets are available via ticketmaster.com and through the Central Ticket Office.
