The North Athletic Field has been repainted to accommodate a north-south oriented field for today’s scrimmage between Italian soccer team Inter Milan and a collection of young soccer players, including five members of the UCLA men’s team. The field was being mowed and repainted Thursday morning to replace the two parallel east-west fields that Inter Milan has been practicing on all week.
With an increasing number of fans showing up at practices, sources with UCLA Recreation, which is managing the practice operations during Inter Milan’s visit at UCLA, most recently said that today’s 4:30 scrimmage was open to invitees only.
Friday’s 10 a.m. practice will remain open for fans and media while the afternoon practice is closed to all public, including press.
Fans have been advised to wait outside of Pauley Pavilion’s gate 15 for photos and autographs with players and coaches. Members of Inter Milan may or may not be honoring photo and autograph requests from fans on an individual basis.
