The advent of summer has brought on longer, more relaxed days. Summer allows for sleeping in and enjoying life, and there is no better time to test out these three refreshing and extraordinarily easy drinks.
Pinky
A play off the traditional mimosa, this sweet beverage is refreshingly bubbly.
How to make it: After adding a few ice cubes to a tall glass, mix equal parts of chilled prosecco, which is a light dry, sparkling white wine, with sparkling pink lemonade. Garnish with mint.
Best for: Brunch with the girls on Sunday or as a way to recover from a long day at work and a hot walk home.
Farmer’s Market Sangria
Sangria, a Spanish wine punch, is most often made with a red wine. But for warmer months, a lighter punch is more refreshing.
How to make it: Combine 1 cup of sugar with 1 1â„2 cups of water. Add 1 cup of fresh orange juice, sliced strawberries, nectarines and peaches. Chill for at least two hours. Then stir in 4 cups of chilled white wine. Add ice cubes and serve immediately.
Best for: Summer evening dinner with friends.
Ruby Red
This tart drink is a sweet way to cut through the heat of those summer nights.
How to make it: Add a few ice cubes and a shot of vodka in a short glass. Add sweet pomegranate juice and garnish with a lime.
Best for: Starting off a Friday night before going out.
