Neuheisel grants releases for two more players

Redshirt sophomore tailback Raymond Carter and redshirt junior wide receiver Dominique Johnson were granted releases by UCLA, coach Rick Neuheisel announced Thursday. The release allows them to explore playing football at another school and transfer if they so choose after spring quarter.

“Raymond told me he loves UCLA, but feels it is best for him to continue his career elsewhere,” Neuheisel said in a statement. “Dominique feels it’s in his family’s best interests to relocate so they can be with him while he goes to school and plays football.” Release papers were also signed on behalf of sophomore tailback Aundre Dean earlier this week.

Carter tore his right ACL during training camp in 2007 and missed the entire season. In 2008 he came off the bench in seven games, but was limited by a groin injury.

Johnson made 34 catches and accumulated 373 receiving yards over the course of last season, ranking fourth and third on the team in the categories, respectively. He played in 12 games, making six starts.

Dean appeared off the bench in six games for the Bruins in 2008. He had 10 carries for a total of 22 yards.

HARWELL CUT: After signing last week with the Washington Redskins, defensive tackle Brigham Harwell was released by the team on Monday.
