The UCLA Committee on Disability, along with various campus organizations, will host the 2008 Disability Awareness Week from Monday, Oct. 27 and to Saturday, Nov. 1.
Disability Awareness Week will feature research and treatment overviews for interested students while providing activities designed specifically for students with disabilities.
The weeklong events are comprised of several different lectures, programs and interactive activities and will be held at various locations on- and off- campus.
The activities will also allow the community to meet and interact with students with disabilities.
Individuals will have the chance to experience living with a disability and will learn about research that is aimed at helping people with disabilities, according to the Committee on Disability’s Web site.
Officially established by the Chancellor in 1982, the Committee on Disability consists of UCLA undergraduates, graduates, staff, alumni and ex officio members, according to the Web site.
The Committee’s mission is to identify and address problems and concerns of people with disabilities.
Among other organizations participating in the week’s events are UCLA Recreation’s Adaptive Programs, the Office for Faculty Diversity and Development and the Disabled Student Union and UCLA Extension.
