It is said that most lies are “lies of omission.” This is when someone simply fails to mention critical facts about a particular situation, purposely misleading the reader to the wrong conclusion. The opinion submission “Palestinian ethnic cleansing from Israel is ongoing, must be stopped” that appeared in the Daily Bruin on May 16 certainly has more than its fair share of omissions. However, the piece is unique in the audacity with which it misrepresents the truth, venturing into the more blatant form of lying in which boldfaced fabrications about complex historical events are presented as undisputed fact.
The authors of the article tell us that the Palestinians were forcibly “driven from their homes during Israel’s 1947-1949 campaign of ethnic cleansing.” The serious charge of ethnic cleansing against Israel – a term used to characterize genocides in Rwanda and Armenia, mass atrocities in Congo and the Holocaust – is not just baseless. It is hateful and discriminatory, leveled in our university’s primary public forum, the Daily Bruin, to demonize Israel – and create a hostile environment for pro-Israel and Jewish students. It takes all meaning out of the term “ethnic cleansing,” disrespecting those communities who bear this awful legacy.
Shame on the authors for introducing this divisiveness, ignorance and hate to our campus. The editors of the Daily Bruin should have known better than to print offensive and ultimately false accusations without doing their due diligence beforehand.
The whole truth is that an estimated 726,000 Arabs fled their homes during Israel’s War of Independence. That war was instigated not by the Jews but by the Arabs, who rejected the United Nations’ plan partitioning the British Mandate of Palestine into two states, one Jewish and one Arab. Israel accepted that plan, but the Arabs chose war.
The vast majority of Arabs left their villages out of their own free will to avoid being caught in the crossfire of war. They were encouraged to do so by their leaders, who told the Arab public that they would soon remove the Jewish population by force and after which they could return to their homes.
“This will be a war of extermination and a momentous massacre which will be spoken of like the Mongolian massacres and the Crusades,” declared Arab League Secretary-General Abdul Rahman Azzam Pasha. “It does not matter how many (Jews) there are. We will sweep them into the sea.”
In the years that followed Israel’s establishment, more than an equal number of Jews were expelled from Arab countries. More than 850,000 Jews lived in Arab countries at the time of Israel’s establishment. These were ancient Jewish communities that had lived on their land for thousands of years. Less than 4,500 Jews live in the Arab world today.
Thriving Jewish communities that had existed since antiquity were destroyed overnight. Arab leaders murdered Jewish leaders, expelled Jewish communities, and stole Jewish property. About 100,000 square kilometers of land owned by Jews in Arab countries were confiscated by Arab leaders. This amounts to five times the size of the state of Israel.
Yet, there was a critical difference in how these two groups of refugees were treated. Israel integrated the Jews kicked out of Arab countries, making them an integral part of the country’s social fabric and future success.
No Arab country, with the exception of Jordan, has provided the opportunity for Palestinian refugees to earn citizenship. Throughout the Arab world, severe restrictions continue to be imposed on Palestinians. For instance, in Lebanon, Palestinians are not allowed to own land or enter certain professions, like medicine and law.
We have great compassion for the challenging situation facing the Palestinian people. We acknowledge their ongoing suffering. Yet, the route to peaceful coexistence on campus – and in the Middle East – lies not in leveling slanderous charges that seek to demonize other communities and misrepresent a very complex history.

“Shame on the authors for introducing this divisiveness, ignorance and
hate to our campus. The editors of the Daily Bruin should have known
better than to print offensive and ultimately false accusations without
doing their due diligence beforehand.” Oh, the irony. lol. Is this a research one institution or nah?
What irony? The original article (to which this is responding) was rife with misconceptions and outright lies. The fact that you seem to be unaware of that simply displays your ignorance.
Israeli and Jewish are not synonyms. A fair criticism of Israeli politics is not insinuating anything about Jewish people. This headline is dead wrong
Unfortunately, it is now impossible to criticize Israel for anything without being called anti-Semitic. Is it anti-American to criticize the US government for Guantanamo? Should we all sit silent while the Palestinians are living behind a fence with Israeli embargos in place that prevent them from getting medical supplies?
What about the “adjacent Arabs” giving up their campaign to annihilate Israel and actually doing some honest work for a change? BTW you are clearly uninformed, so you perhaps don’t realize how many “adjacent Arabs” are treated in Israeli hospitals, including many from Syria.
Amazing that you can cram so much BS into such a short paragraph! First of all, Israel gets the most disproportionate scrutiny of any nation in history. The Middle East is a bloodbath, but Israel, which is a comparative oasis of peace and democracy (covering .5% of the Middle East), gets hammered daily in the press, the UN and on college campuses. Coincidentally, this tiny nation is the world’s only Jewish state. So we are perfectly capable of drawing our own conclusions about the motivation behind most of the obsession with Israel.
The only “Palestinians” subject to embargo are in Gaza. If they hadn’t voted a terrorist organization into power, they wouldn’t face this inconvenience. If Hamas worried about building a better future for Gaza, rather than demonic hatred of Jews (yes, Jews – Hamas’ Charter calls for worldwide extermination of Jews; did you not know this or is it you simply don’t care?), there would be no need for Israel to screen Gaza imports for weapons. Your statement about the blockade barring medical supplies is an out and out lie. Medical supplies are not limited in any way. Even during the 2014 war to stop Hamas terror missiles and terror tunnels, Israel allowed in medical supplies and even treated injured Gazans in Israeli hospitals! How many wars can you name where one side freely allowed in medical supplies, food, electricity and other humanitarian assistance, even treating the other side’s wounded? Do you think for an instant that Hamas would’ve done the same for Israel, if the shoe were on the other foot? Do yourself a favor: stop getting your information from SJP, Electronic Intifada and similar propaganda factories. Garbage in, garbage out, as they say…
The headline is spot on. The article — and what’s happening NOW/TODAY — should enlighten any honest person. The campaign waged by the global jihad to annihilate the Jewish people is broadcaston a daily basis around vast sections of Muslim world.
?? The article is about the charge of ethnic cleansning – not about fair criticism.
If the headline had read “Israelis not to blame…,” what difference would it make? When Israel haters criticize Israel, they are not criticizing Israeli Arabs, now are they?
So the author is justifying the treatment of Palestinians in Israel by comparing it to the treatment of Jews in muslim nations? That’s quite a reach in trying to make your point there, buddy. All I see is a nation now called israel where the death toll of non Israelites is constantly soaring while their land is constantly shrinking. Just because the Jews were forced to live on ghettos at one point in history does not give them the right to do so to others.
Israel is immensely outnumbered by Musim Arabs with murderous intentions (with a minority enlightened exceptions). Israel (and the Jewish people) are what is personified by the story of David and Goliath. If you go after David you will pay a costly price: that’s the message. If you wisely and rationally conclude peace with Israel, you will live in peace and abundance.
What you really mean is “as long as you submit the Israelites will allow you to live how they deem worthy.”
You really are quite the fact resistant fellow! Are you a fan of Donald Trump? He depends on folks like you! You keep repeating the catch phrase “land grabbing,” but you can’t be bothered with such trivialities as “researching the history” of this complex conflict. If you did, you would discover that the land was not “grabbed,” but rather lost in multiple failed genocidal wars launched against Jews. Do you think people who lose land in wars they themselves started get to demand “do-overs?” Just wondering.
It’s my understanding that the Jews marched to Isreal with intent on taking it thousands of years ago… so it was written.
The Palestinians demand “right of return,” the ability to pour MILLIONS of Arabs into Israel (not a new state o Palestine)and vote the Jews out of office, getting all the Jews have built without firing a shot! Do you think ANY Israeli government is going to agree to throw themselves into the sea?
So they want their home back? Who could blame them.
… to say nothing that under international law, Israel has better claim than anybody to the land of the League of Nations’ Mandate for Palestine.

Thank you, Inbar, for this concise and accurate account of what TRULY happened. I wholeheartedly hope it receives wide distribution throughout the world, especially in American universities.
The Big Lie campaign to demonize Israel and, by extension, the Jewish people is intended to sow the seeds for Holocaust #2. That’s clear and obvious.
Those behind this campaign need to recognize that it will fail, and at a tremendous cost to themselves.
Hollocaust 2? What?! Nobody wants to allow the extermination of the Jews. What they want is for Israel to stop slowly exterminating the Palestinians. You can act like they are the threat all you want but the numbers tell a different story. We, the rest of the world, do not approve of murderous land grabbing tactics. .
“Nobody wants to allow the extermination of the Jews.” Oh, really? You couldn’t be more uninformed and dead wrong. The campaign to annihilate Israel and murder all Jewish inhabitants comes roaring out of the Islamic Arab world on a daily basis. I urge you to read a web like like Jihad Watch so you see beyond your politically correct blinders. Israel has repeatedly offered to make peace with the adjacent Arabs who outnumber them immensely and they have been repeatedly turned down. They withdrew from Gaza, which flourished under Israel’s dominion, and is now a seething cesspool of Islamic terrorism. What you undoubtedly find hard to accept is that Jews are not climbing into the boxcars and going peacefully to the death camps once again.
So sorry!!!
Death camps? Funny, I haven’t noticed Israel getting attacked by these surrounding nations. Not even once. For being so out numbered and under constant threat they sure seem to be flourishing in that part of the world. Largely due to the fact that they have removed or crippled all of the muslim population that use to occupy the area they have conquered. Yes, I said conquered, because that’s exactly what they did to illegaly expand their borders. Your support of such tactics proves exactly who is “wearing blinders”.
More dark lies or, perhaps, sheer ignorance.
I suggest, for starters, you read SIX DAYS OF WAR — June 1967 and the Making of the Modern Middle East by Michael B. Oren.
Apologists for Political Islam employ what can only be called “willful ignorance.”
Since BR doesn’t seem to grasp the sentiment embodied in the below cartoon, it’s apparent that no amount of logic would sway him.

You can’t use logic to deal with hatred. All you can do is recognize the depth of the hatred as well as the ultimate goal (annihilation of Israel-Zionists-Jews) and act accordingly. Recognize that there will never be “peace” with these humanoids because the only kind of “peace” they offer is the “peace of the grave”. Although they don’t really offer the “peace of the grave”, do they, considering the decades of ongoing destruction and defiling of the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives? The only answer is to do whatever is necessary for the physical survival of Israel-Zionists-Jews within the Jewish State of Israel.
You sound like a crazy person threatening to kill anyone and everyone that gets in your way. Even non-violent people, like me, that protest your use of violence.
Maybe the muslims are right, maybe israel truely is a danger to the rest of the world.
Are you so ignorant you do not know that 5 arab armies invaded Israel the day after Israel declared independence in May 1948? Are you so ignorant that you do not know that, in June 1967, the Egyptians threw out UN peacekeepers in Sinai, moved its armies into Sinai, and closed the Straits of Tiran (closing the Straits was all by itself an act of war), all before Israel responded? Are you so ignorant that you do not know that, in June 1967, the Syrian army and airforce attacked Israel from the Golan Heights before Israel responded? Are you so ignorant that you do not know that the Israelis had no interest in fighting a war with Jordan and requested King Hussein stay out of it, but Jordanian troops attacked Israel in Jerusalem (including Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital) and throughout Samaria, and that Jordanian fighter planes attacked Israeli targets throughout central Israel and ranged as far as Netanya on the coastline, before Israel ever responded? Are you so ignorant that you do not know that Egypt and Syria attacked Israel during Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish calendar, in 1973? And you go to my university?
–SLMorris, UCLA, Engineering, 1984
When you’re constantly land grabbing you tend to make some enemies. Please explain what territories of “Israel” that Egypt and Syria attacked on that holy day… and while you’re at it why don’t you explain to me how and when that territory became “Israel”.
Also, I’ve only been alive for 35 years. So no, I don’t remember any of those happening anymore than I remember slavory. I don’t see black people getting a slap on the wrist when they kill a white person just because of something that happened in history, do I?
[ I’ve only been alive for 35 years. So no, I don’t remember any of those happening anymore than I remember slavory]
SPelling error aside, you are displaying your gross ignorance and opening yourself up to fully justified criticism and mockery when you comment on historical occurrences based on ignorance, which you now admit.
You claim Israel was “land grabbing”, and “illegally expanding its borders”, yet you have no knowledge of history OR of international law.
As Steve Morris so rightly pointed out, Israel was fully acting within its rights under international law when it chose to RESPOND to acts of war perpetrated AGAINST it by Arab countries.
Here’s some free advice, foolish child: If you don’t remember the history from your own personal experience, take the time to RESEARCH what happened, using multiple, reliable sources, before publicly making a fool of yourself by making numerous incorrect claims that display your complete LACK of knowledge or understanding.
A law does not make what they do right. Slavory was once legal, yet it was never right, was it?
You’re a damn tool if you believe what they do to the Palestinian people is in “defense”. Yet you continue to bring up irrelevant bullshit to justify your claim that it’s some how their right to do so.
And calling me a fool in typing is great and all but ask yourself, deep down; would you ever say that to anyone out loud? Because I highly doubt it.
What extermination are you talking about? Are you aware of mass graves that the rest of us have yet to read about? The Arab population has exploded inside Israel and throughout the disputed territories. So if Israel is “exterminating” Arabs, they are doing a pretty poor job of it!
As far as land grabbing tactics, there are 200 territorial disputes in the world today. Israel is involved in one of them. Don’t be so quick to pre-judge issues about which you have limited knowledge. For instance, did you know that, during the Zionist movement in the late 1800s through Israel’s independence in ’48, Zionists bought massive amounts of land in Judea, Samaria and the old city of Jerusalem (buying back historical Jewish land, ironically)? Jordan captured the land in ’48 and ethnically cleansed every single Jew. So there are thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of Arabs living on land which was legally purchased by Jews. In the meantime, Palestinian law has a death penalty for any Muslim who sells his land to a Jew. Maybe you should rethink your knee jerk assumption that the disputed land is automatically Arab, just because they claim it is. Taking back one’s own land is not “grabbing” it. Maybe “reclaiming” it. The Jews have reclaimed some, but not all, of their land.
I guess we shouldn’t be surprised when the native Americans rise up and start to take back their land either, right? Because according to your logic that is justified behavior, right?
Don’t think that just because I don’t want Jews needlessly bombing muslim neighborhoods that I also don’t want muslims needlessly bombing Jews. It goes both way. But evil does not justify more evil. If there is ever going to be peace them both sides are going to have to evolve. That won’t happen if you continue to dumb down the actions of the Israelites just because you consider them your friends.
I’m not sure what you’re getting at , by your Native Americans analogy, except that you’re admitting the Jews are the indigenous people in this conflict, and the Arabs are the colonizers. Keep in mind that Jordan attacked Israel in ’67, after Israel told them its fight was only with Egypt and Syria. You attack another country, you lose land that belonged to that other country anyway, boo hoo.
Very big of you not to want Muslims “needlessly bombing Jews.” Jews didn’t “needlessly” bomb Gaza. They had to stop thousands of terror missiles and destroy terror tunnels dug into Israel. The missiles didn’t stop until Hamas accepted the same cease fire which Israel had proposed weeks earlier. Thus, every Israeli bombing mission was necessary. If Hamas had stopped firing missiles at civilians and Israel had kept attacking, you’d have a better argument.
There’s no “dumbing down;” there’s self defense. If your city were targeted by thousands of missiles, wouldn’t you demand military action to stop the terror? Don’t confuse cause and effect. If Hamas hadn’t launched countless attacks against Israeli civilian population centers, there would’ve been no war. If Hamas wasn’t a terror organization, there’d be no embargo on Gaza. If Palestinian-brand Arabs chose to live alongside Jews in peace, instead of trying to destroy Israel, there’d be no war. In fact, if Arab countries in the Middle East had accepted the partition plan in ’48, instead of trying to liquidate the Jews, there wouldn’t have been refugees. Israel is the David to the Arab Goliath, and it’s always been that way. If Israel ever loses a war, there will be an extermination – it won’t be slow and it won’t be “Palestinians” getting exterminated (as you phrased things a few posts earlier). Let’s hope we never see that, because it will herald the fall of Western civilization.
Intellegence, but a one sided view.
Thanks, but tell me honestly; is there a second side to decades of demonic hatred of Jews being taught to each succeeding “Palestinian” young generation? http://pamelageller.com/2015/12/little-muslim-girl-demonstrates-art-of-stabbing-stab-stab-stab-stab-stab-islamic-incitement-viral-on-social-media-stab.html/. If you care to check out Palestinian Media Watch, they have an entire section on hate indoctrination of children. It reflects the psychotic nature of their entire society – their schools, political leaders, clerics, media and entertainment. http://unitedwithisrael.org/palestinian-media-praises-terrorists-who-murdered-american-tourist-in-tel-aviv/?utm_source=MadMimi&utm_medium=email&utm_content=Shocking+Call+to+Murder+Israelis+Everywhere%3B+US+Congress+Stops+Obama+from+Buying+Nuclear+Material+from+Iran&utm_campaign=20160527_m131743535_Shocking+Call+to+Murder+Israelis+Everywhere%3B+US+Congress+Stops+Obama+from+Buying+Nuclear+Material+from+Iran&utm_term=watch_btn_dark_png. Peace requires more than a piece of paper. It requires a true willingness to end the conflict, which does not yet exist in Gaza or Ramallah.
Right there in your first line you point out your one sidedness. “All” Palestinians are being taught to hate Jews? What about the many that simply wish they had a normal life like most Jews in that part of the world? I’ll admit I would have a little hate for someone that was notorius for blowing up my house every time someone from their bloodline got stabbed or attacked by some terrorist. Or looked down on like I was some kind of demonic second class citizen because of happen to be born looking like said terrorist. The internet is filled with hate and it’s no mystery that a group of Palestinians want to kill the Jews. I believe it’s important to be equally fair though and not overlook the group of Jews who obviously want to kill the Palestinians. Let me ask you, how many times have I seen a Israeli soldier blow the brains out of some news reporter, protestor, or disarmed criminal just lying on the ground? The answer is a crap ton. Now how many times have those terrorist rockets landed in Israel killing innocent women and children in the last few years? Like once, twice? Maybe even zero thanks to that amazing defense system they have in place. But how many Palestinian women and children have been killed by Israeli bombs in that same amount of time?
You’re right about one part for sure; they are not ready for peace in that part of the world. The only difference I see in our view of it is that I’m not willing to call either one of them my Allies.
All your summations of Israel’s conduct are skewed and inaccurate. Of course, many of them just want to live normal lives. That doesn’t change the fact that they have a sick society. What would the reaction in America be if a state or a city erected a monument honoring Timothy McVeigh? Horror, yes? Yet the Arab leaders constantly commit such outrages, with monuments, schools, soccer matches and children’s day camps named after mass murderers such as Dalal Mughrabi (architect of the Coastal Road Massacre, which killed 37 Israelis, including 12 kids). A Pew opinion poll a few years ago revealed that “Palestinian” Muslims favor suicide bombing at a higher percentage than any other Muslims in the world. It wasn’t even close. Pew didn’t ask me my opinion – the Muslims themselves said how they feel. So I’m just reporting the facts. If you think I misstate a fact, please tell me and I’ll be happy to look further.
As far as blowing up houses, Israelis don’t randomly target Arab houses. They have a provision for destroying the home of a terrorist. It has to be approved by the court, and more often than not, the family was complicit or at least supportive of the murder. This policy may seem over broad, and maybe in some instances, it is. But when terror is so ingrained in a society, there must be deterrence. Much of their culture glorifies death, so they tend to lionize dead terrorists as “shahids.” That’s also why their government, the “moderate” PA, pays salaries to convicted terrorists. It’s psychotic and sick, so, yeah, I’m not going to bend over backwards trying to empathize with them. I empathize with the one-third of “Palestinians” who have not been infected with this cultish hatred of Jews, and just want to live in peace. They can’t even speak up, because their brethren will arrest them, accuse them of being “collaborators,” or worse. In the meantime, there is that Palestinian law mandating the death penalty for any Muslim who sells his land to a Jew. It’s emblematic of how their leadership has spent decades preparing them for war, not peace. I’m just the messenger; I wish I had a better message to report.
I’m not sure I’d want to live in a place where so many of my neighbors wanted to kill me. I mean, seriously, what made you guys want to lay claim to such a hostile stomping ground? Has either side tried apologizing to the other? Blacks used to be enslaved and native Americans got straight robbed, but we all get along pretty okay considering.
Well, we tried Poland for awhile, and you see how that worked out. The problem is “Palestinians” who want peace aren’t running the show. When they get new leadership, they might improve their lives. But as Israeli statesman Abba Eban once said, “The Arabs never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.” Even with new leadership, it will probably take decades to wash out generations of indoctrination. Follow Palestinian Media Watch and you’ll get a better sense of what their “leaders” tell their people in Arabic. It’s quite different from the face they present to the West, in English.
Don’t forget how the victim Apaches, Comanches got their land in the first place. By decades of mutilation, murder and theft from the Navajos. Been going on since the beginning of time. Sioux did the same to the Crow and Cheyenne. etc etc
Our worst crime to native americans was the reservation system thereby hooking them on the IV drug called the US Govt$. we should have just let them integrate like blacks, they would be far more successful now instead of hooked on their Indian money as they call it.
Why don’t you give your house to some native americans if you feel so guilty seriously, Ill tell you why, because we won. The Chinese did it, the Japanese did it, the Russians did it and every other present country at some point fought to get what they wanted, to the victor goes the spoils.
Bet you will think twice about what you blurt out in the future, because garybkatz just skewered you in your little debate and he was spot f—ng on with every point.
Once the Palestinian leadership (thats an ironic non sequitur) changes its views on their desire to wipe israel and Jews off the face of the earth (and quit allowing themselves to be used by the rest of the Arab world), only then will peace even be plausible.
The claim they laid on Palestine was, in my view decided upon by the British.
However, if we were to look back to February of 1896, Theodor Hertzl, (the father of modern Zionism), had pondered two locations where he thought Jews would thrive and prosper. In his book, “The Jewish State”, (https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/quot-the-jewish-state-quot-theodor-herzl) and under the chapter title “The Jewish Question”, under the heading “PALESTINE OR ARGENTINE?”… he poses the question as he begins a new paragraph, “Shall we choose Palestine or Argentine?” and in response, he offers “[We] shall take what is given us, and what is selected by Jewish public opinion. The Society will determine both these points”.
The question then becomes… “Promised land?” I don’t remember Argentina being listed as an alternative? But what do I know!!!
“Now how many times have those terrorist rockets landed in Israel killing innocent women and children in the last few years? Like once, twice? Maybe even zero thanks to that amazing defense system they have in place.”
Would you feel better if Israel just let the rockets land on our homes and killed us? Would that make you feel like it is fair?
It does not matter how many rockets landed in Israel, but how many were launched by Hamas. During the 50-day 2014 war Hamas fired about 4,000 rockets towards Israeli civilian towns with the sole INTENTION to kill us.
I saw with my own eyes as a volley of 6 Hamas rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome over the city next to mine, then had to run to the shelter as our siren was activated a few seconds later.
Of course, it hurts knowing how many children died on their side, but I don’t feel bad for having a safe shelter to run into, sirens to alert us, and the Iron Dome to keep us alive. We should never apologize for surviving.
No, you shouldn’t. You have a right to survive. You have a right to seek out those who attack you and deal with them. How you choose to seek out and what type of punishment you inflict in retaliation is what concerns me.
http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/8132/disproportionality
A long winded excuse for murder.
No, it is you who condone the murder of Israelis and the murder by proxy (as human shields) of arab civilians (the Dead Baby Strategy) as orchestrated by hamass. The “Lie of Disproportionality” as tantamount to murder? No, and nothing “long-winded” about it as it is entirely germane to the situation. Israel has the obligation to protect its own civilians and soldiers, and that is all.
I don’t understand how it’s so difficult for you to understand that I don’t condone ANY murder. Oh, wait, I know why it’s so hard: you need an excuse.
“But how many Palestinian women and children have been killed by Israeli bombs in that same amount of time?” Apparently not enough, because the “palestinians” and their political and religious leadership have yet to accede to the slightest modicum of peace, have yet to show any inclination to repudiate and refrain from terrorism, have yet to show any inclination to lay down their arms on any terms. In the meantime, Israelis don’t need to apologize for effectively securing their own lives.
BTW, what inclination have you to do about the basements in al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, wherein resides the entire political and command & control infrastructure of hamass?
I would say you better not blow up that hospital just because some bad guy is hiding in t.
“Some bad guy”? As I wrote: “the entire political and command & control infrastructure of hamass” is in the basement of al-Shifa Hospital. According to the Geneva Conventions, it would NOT be a violation if Israel went after the hamass command & control structure there. But it does show how much the chicken-shit hamass leaders are cowards who use civilians as human shields, which is itself a Geneva Conventions war crime.
It takes a coward to hide behind a sick person. It takes pure evil to shoot through the sick.. I don’t give a crap what the Geneva convention has to say about it.
Of course you don’t give a crap. What could I
possibly expect? Meanwhile, one wonders what you might have to think
about the Geneva Convention and Darfur, Kurdistan, the Yazidis, Tibet… Of course, no Jews no
news, right? No Jews no Geneva Convention, right?
No, it is not “pure evil to shoot through the sick”. Just as it was not “pure evil” to bring Japan to its knees via two nuclear weapons and save countless other lives. It is “pure evil” to hide like cowards and rats in the basement of a hospital.
But as long as we’re talking about hospitals, let’s see what the arabs have to say and do about hospitals. How about 78 Jewish doctors, nurses, students, patients, and faculty members: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hadassah_medical_convoy_massacre
Your true colors come out the angrier you make yourself. All you seem to want to do is kill. You want to be the victim but the reality is you hate your enemy so much that it turns you in to a hateful being.
Nuking Japan was a horrible act committed against humanity by a very scared nation.
It’s very hard for me to picture Palestinians as the “bad guys” when I’m sitting here talking to a Jew that is attempting to justify blowing up a hospital.
Of course not. You are willfully deaf, dumb and blind. What could I possibly expect? Meanwhile, one wonders what you might have to think about Darfur, Kurdistan, the Yazidis, Syria, Tibet… Of course, no Jews no news, right?
You have a real issue with constructive criticism. One of the main reasons I do not consider Israel anymore of an ally than I do Palestine.
Actually, it shows how little regard for even their own people’s lives have. But when you harbor the hatred BR does, you will say anything
A man that justifies murdering children via bombs on their house as “self defense” is calling me a hateful person..
..the irony is so hard to bare.
This would be an excellent example of just wild, libelous charges. This poster states “how many times have I seen a Israeli soldier blow the brains out of some news reporter, protester, or disarmed criminal just lying on the ground?” Not one link to any support for such an insane charge. It does not happen no matter how much the Muslim Brotherhood, NPR or Al Jazeera says it does.

There you go smart guy. Since you really needed links in order to face your countries demons. I mean, did you seriously not know or do you just play “innocence” until the day you die? The level of denial that comes from you guys is getting freaking ridiculous.
You are desperate. Your so called proof here is one 13 year old incident where a reporter was killed in a firefight in Gaza and another where a Palestinian terrorist/attacker was shot after being arrested. The 2003 incident was hardly an extra judicial killing but occurred during the first war with Palestinian terrorists in Gaza. But the accusation made was that somehow this happens all the time. The only thing happening all the time is the attempted murder and killing of Israelis by Palestinian terrorists. But you have no problem with Arabs attacking the Jews of Israel, your outrage is only aimed at Israel. Your hatred is only exceeded by inability to think critically.
I simple googled and copy and pasted the first two.. I’m not desperate; you are simply in denial. Should I go ahead and start posting every documented incident of israel misbehaving? Oh trust me, I can find plenty of blood to put on your hands and since you seem to either a) be clueless of your people’s actions or the more likely scenerio b) you feel entitled to do what you want and you will deny or justify our means with great dedication.
I’m a bit busy today but starting tomorrow I will post a complete history of the horrors of Isreal, just for you kid.
I actually got one for the road for you; whens the last time you bombed some kids playing on a beach? I’ll give you a hint, it wasn’t “13 years ago”.
“More than 2,100 Palestinians were killed in the last war alongside 66 Israeli troops and six civilians.”
By war they are referring to the slaughter of Gaza. I wonder how many of those 2,100 were civilians, women, or kids?
“2100 Palestinians were killed in the last war” Sir, don’t you think it at least is relevant to state the “last war started by the Palestinian using illegal Iranian weapons/missiles?”
I’m sure in your mind that some how justifies the murdering of 500 Palestinian children?
That is psychotic.
Why do you feel the need to constantly and illegally expand your borders? How many massacres have been carried out and houses have been blown up just to scare away or eliminate Palestinians so that Israelis could live more comfortably?
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/israel-confirms-it-plans-west-bank-farming-land-grab-jordan-valley-near-jericho-1539485
“The UN says at least 2,104 Palestinian died, including 1,462 civilians, of whom 495 were children and 253 women.”
What a pathetic display of power. 500 children murdered and that’s just in the recent news…

It’s nice to know that some of your people have a conscience and a balanced moral compass, like this Israeli human rights group. Unfortunately it’s obvious that many do not, such as you and this soldier/medic.
https://theintercept.com/2016/03/24/israeli-rights-group-releases-video-soldier-executing-wounded-palestinian-suspect/
let’s hope one day there will be an “Arab human rights group”
Just because you cover your eyes doesn’t mean they aren’t there. Maybe you simply need to change the way you think, like these people, before you can quit being part of the problem and start being part of the solution.
Too funny, a single demonstration by anti Israeli Palestinian activists accusing Israel of an absurd level of criminality who have teamed with some extreme Israeli leftists counts as a “human rights group” to you. Thanks for proving my point here.
I wouldn’t expext a murderer of children to understand what “human rights” are anyways. But I do enjoy watching you only respond to the comments that fit your agenda. Obviously some things are just to hard to face, right?
(Yes I realize this discussion took place over 2 years ago, but the hypocrisy demonstrated by some is still as blatant today as it was back then).
What extermination? This one: https://ifamericaknew.org/stat/deaths.html And that is ONLY since September 29, 2000. Meaning there over 52 years and thousands of deaths since 1948 that the linked page does not account for. How about you review the list of these exterminations in the order they happened? This, actually, should have a bigger impact n anyone with a conscience… https://israelpalestinetimeline.org/ Look at the ages of these victims….
And by the way, that does not account for all the arrests that IDF makes, often times, holding Palestinians, without filing any formal charges for months at a time. Nor does it account for the home demolitions that are done frequently.
Whether we call it segregation, ethnic cleansing, apartheid or something else, the world is beginning to wake up to these discriminatory ad inhumane policies by Israel… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYI2MhGQqVs
As for your claim suggesting there were 200 territorial disputes in the world (at the time you posted), I’d ask you to list just 10% of what you claimed, but its a moot point. Just because one entity happens to occupy someone else’s land, does not justify Israel “confiscating” one inch that does not belong to it!
Seriously, the more denying you do, the less credibility you will have!
Your posting from “ifamericanknew” is flawed, because 1. so many of the dead were terrorists and violent rioters; 2. the “Palestinians and their minions always inflate the numbers of dead civilians and blame deaths on Israel, which had nothing to do with Israel (remember the baby they reported as killed by breathing tear gas, and it turned out the baby had a medical condition which really killed her?); and 3. It downplays Israeli victims of terror, which almost ALWAYS targets Israeli civilians. Here’s a list of terror attacks, since 2015: https://worldisraelnews.com/chronology-palestinian-terrorist-attacks-israelis/. In any event, the numbers and circumstances have nothing to do with “extermination.” If you attack Jews, you’re not going to get a kiss. Jews have claws now. Given the number of terror attacks and “Palestinian” society’s glorification of murder, I’m surprised the numbers of dead terrorists is so low, not to mention collateral damage. No other army in the world exercises more restraint, where terror is concerned. Let’s see how you respond, the day some jihadist rushes towards you, screaming “Allahu akbar!” and brandishing a butcher knife.
Plus, you posted a video of South Africa criticizing Israel? What a joke. The ANC is a corrupt failure, leading its country down the toilet, using attacks on Israel to distract from their own incompetence and racism. If you call Israel “inhumane,” you’re going to have to invent new words for Israel’s neighbors, like Syria (up to 500,000 dead, since 2011), Turkey (the most imprisoned journalists in the world), Egypt (40 Coptic churches burned, during 1 year of Muslim Brotherhood rule), Kuwait (expelled tens of thousands of “Palestinians,” after the Gulf War), ad nauseam. Your obsessive focus on Israel, the only Jewish state, is very revealing. No Jews, no news, right? I hope the world will wake up, yes, but not in the way you suggest. If Israel fell, the world would enter a dark age we haven’t seen in centuries. You know what canary in the coal mine means?
The “Palestinians” weaponize their children, then complain when some of the same kids inevitably get killed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gM07qFvcTE8. What’s going to become of a girl like this? http://www.timesofisrael.com/palestinian-girl-brandishes-knife-in-facebook-video/. And don’t be deceived or try to deceive me that it has anything to do with “freedom” or “dignity,” or wanting a “Palestinian state.” It’s always been about Arab refusal to accept a Jewish state, with any borders, on “sacred Muslim land.” Anyone who thinks differently is uninformed or naive. You wouldn’t care, either, if the dispute were Sunni vs. Shiite, or Sunni vs. Kurd. How much do you protest the apartheid practiced by Arab countries against “Palestinians,” refusing them citizenship, property rights, marriage rights, and entry into universities and various professions? Or does it only count, if the Jewish state does something to which you object?
I responded to many of the comments below and they apparently have been deleted. Why?
It’s not anti-Semitic to criticize Israeli policies (just read the Israeli press which is full off criticism of the various Israeli policies). It is however an extreme distortion to hold Israel to vastly different standards than other countries and to accept as fact one-sided narratives, blatant lies and propaganda without any reasoned analysis or historical perceptive. Israel is a country that has more foreign reporters than all of sub-Saharan Africa, than Russia and China. It has “human rights” monitors from European and American NGOs on almost every block looking for any possible evidence of transgressions to breathlessly report to their donors. Meanwhile human rights violations by Hamas, the Palestinian Authority and by almost all Muslim countries are almost totally ignored. Why is this? Here is one example: Turkey has killed many many more Kurdish civilians in their decades long ethnic conflict than Palestinians have been killed in the almost 100 years of conflict between the Jews and Arabs*, yet there is hardly a peep about this in the international press, by human rights organizations, by the UN and no outrage about this on the political left…no calls for boycotts of Turkish goods, no condemnation of Turkey as “racist”.. The same with massive human rights violators throughout the world. The UN Human Rights Commission with such human rights stalwarts as Saudi Arabia, Cuba, Algerian and Qatar has passed more condemnations of Israel than all other countries combined. Does anyone really believe that this is based on any kind of objectivity and not on irrational hatred and political posturing? Is it any wonder that many people conclude that there is anti-Semitism involved?
*(From Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurds_in_Turkey “According to human rights organisations since the beginning of the Kurdish-Turkish conflict 4,000 Kurdish villages have been destroyed and some 40,000 people have been killed.[53] In December 2015, Turkish military operation against Kurdish rebels in southeastern Turkey has killed hundreds of civilians, displaced hundreds of thousands and caused massive destruction in residential areas.[54]”)
Superb article – dialogue is the route to peace and coexistence, half truths, mindless diatribes and silence is the road to ruin.
This article is filled with lies, lies, and more lies. I am also upset at #TheRacistBruin for allowing such trash to be published filled with personal attacks and stereotypical tropes. Anyway, here is my response that the Daily Bruin refused to publish so racist stereotypical trash could stand without a response:
“UCLA
Professor Raul Moreno Campos once told me, “Words have meaning, so be
careful when you use them.” Therefore, I do my due diligence when using
words, especially when they have serious ramifications for context. So
when I read the opinion submission, “Jews not to blame for Palestinian
displacement,” I was taken aback by Goren and Moore’s misrepresentation
of words in an attempt to level frivolous charges against
pro-Palestinian students on campus.
On May 16th, a submission
to the Daily Bruin described the 1947-1949 Palestinian exodus – and,
Israel’s current state policies – as “ethnic cleansing.” In response, Goren and Moore
suggested that the use of the term ethnic cleansing to describe the
Palestinian exodus was “baseless.” They then claimed that ethnic
cleansing is used to describe the Rwanda and Armenian genocides, as well
as atrocities such as the Holocaust. So for them, usage of the term
ethnic cleansing to describe the Palestinian exodus is “hateful,”
“discriminatory,” and serves “to create a hostile environment for
pro-Israel and Jewish students.”
While it is true that ethnic
cleansing is used to describe genocides, it is also true that the term
is used to describe systemic practices that serves the same purpose of a
genocide: Ethnic or religious expulsion to achieve homogenous
geographical spaces.
By doing a simple Google search,
one can see that ethnic cleansing is defined as “the mass expulsion or
killing of members of an unwanted ethnic or religious group in a
society.” Ethnic cleansing is also described
as “the attempt to get rid of (through deportation, displacement or
even mass killing) members of an unwanted ethnic group in order to
establish an ethnically homogenous geographic area.” Former UN Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights,
Tadeusz Mazowiecki, emphasized that ethnic cleansing should be equated
“with the systematic purge of the civilian population based on ethnic
criteria, with the view to forcing it to abandon the territories where
it lives.”
Now, some scholars suggest that any form of ethnic
cleansing should be considered genocide, but I am discussing the most
basic definition at the moment. By examining the basic definition, one
can easily see that ethnic cleansing encompasses a genocidal component
with the intent of death, and a systemic component that emphasize
systemic displacement. So, I find Goren and Moore’s attempt to vilify
Palestinian students for exposing Israel’s history of ethnic cleansing
humorous given the fact that a simple Google search disproves the very
bases of their argument that usage of the term ethnic cleansing is
slanderous.
Moreover, while Goren and Moore seem to have a
problem when Palestinians use the term ethnic cleansing, they have
forgotten, unless they were not aware, that Israeli documents
from 1948 used the term “to cleanse” when talking about Palestinian
expulsion and village demolitions. So Israeli documents illuminate the
purposeful ethnic cleansing inflicted upon the Palestinian people
despite the Israeli government’s attempt to re-write history and deny
Palestinians the right of return. In fact, the Israeli government reclassified and sealed
historical material once available to researchers after documents
showed evidence of deliberate expulsion ordered by senior commanders of
the IDF and Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion himself. So, the idea that
over 700,000 Palestinians voluntarily left their homes at the orders of
Arab leaders are just false and part of Israel’s long standing
propaganda machine to reshape the historical narrative.
In addition, a simple Google search
will show a proliferation of discussion regarding Israel’s systematic
denial of building permits and home demolitions that is, by definition,
ethnic cleansing. For example, you will find that a United Nations report
revealed that Israel issued over 14,000 demolition orders in Area C of
occupied Palestine, where most illegal colonies are built. According to
the UN, home demolition orders “heighten the vulnerability of thousands
of poor Palestinian households” who are “at imminent risk of forcible
displacement.” Forcible displacement of Palestinians from their home
land? That is the definition of ethnic cleansing. Using Israel’s own
data, a report by Peace Now
revealed that over a 7 year period, 94%, or 1,533 out of 1,715 building
permits requested by Palestinians were denied. In contrast, 18,472
illegal colonial projects were constructed for Jews in Area C of
Palestine. This data was extracted from Israel’s Central Bureau of
Statistics, so Israel’s own numbers tells a story of ethnic cleansing.
If
people are going to personally attack students on campus by accusing
them of being hateful and discriminatory, I suggest that they adequately
make their case and not use baseless accusations and over-the-top
rhetoric designed to inflict harm to one’s character. There is plenty of
room for scholarly debate without having to resort to such disgusting
libel.
Goren and Moore told the Daily Bruin that it should have
“known better than to print offensive and ultimately false accusations
without doing their due diligence beforehand.” Now there’s something we
all can agree on.”
The saying “your are entitled to your opinion but not to your own facts” is an excellent statement for the Daily Bruin. Apparently, if it is on the editorial page, the Bruin has no standards. Any anti Israel or Anti Semitic group can write the most outlandish, false and libelous charges against the hated Jews of Israel and the Bruin will publish it without doing an iota of research, without question, and without verification of the validity of the statements being made. An editorial page should at least require that the subject matter be an opinion about the truth, not about made up and false statements. I sure hope the Bruin staff is never put in any journalistic roles once they graduate. They are advocates, not reporters.
