The undergraduate student government election board sanctioned Waves of Change for purchasing a Snapchat filter without disclosing the expense in their reports, according to an election board report published Monday night.
As a result, Waves of Changes will not be able to pass out flyers from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday. A Waves of Change representative must also submit a modified expense report to the election board office by noon on Wednesday.
Waves of Change is a new student-run political group, or slate, participating in this year’s Undergraduate Students Association Council election. The slate is running three candidates for the president, external vice president and Cultural Affairs commissioner positions.
Waves of Change was sanctioned April 26 for paying to promote their campaign on Facebook before the designated paid advertising period.
Jeremy Peschard and Rachel Kuria, slate managers for Waves of Change, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Students can vote in the USAC election on MyUCLA through 3 p.m. Friday. The election board will announce results Friday at 9 p.m. in Meyerhoff Park in front of Kerckhoff Hall.
