University police arrested a man Friday who allegedly made a threatening Facebook post that claimed he would be a mass school shooter.

David Williams, 31, made a Facebook post Thursday afternoon in which he shared an article about the “Kanye Western” themed raid held Tuesday.

“Fuck UCLA. I ma be the first black (school) shooter,” the post said.

Someone then notified university police about the post, according to a UCPD alert.

UCPD arrested Williams Friday morning in his Century City business on suspicion of making a criminal threat with intent to terrorize, said UCPD spokesperson Nancy Greenstein in an email statement. Williams also had other outstanding warrants for other alleged crimes, which could influence his court decision.

Williams is in custody at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Reception Center and his bail is set at $59,000, Greenstein said in the statement.

Williams is not affiliated with UCLA, according to the alert.

No further information was immediately available. The case is still under investigation.

  1. How is this article not part of the Daily Bruin’s “Kanye Western controversy coverage”? Also, how is the headline so generic? A guy makes a threat to shoot-up the chapter house of the fraternity at the center of this controversy and gets quickly arrested but the headline is so generic that you have to read two sentences in before you find out what the connection is to UCLA.
