UCLA cross country traveled up to Seattle this weekend, taking part in the Washington Invitational hosted at the Jefferson Park Golf Course.
The 11th-ranked men’s team, which returned its top seven runners to start the season, finished in fourth-place overall.
Senior Lane Werley led the men’s team in the 8K event, earning a third-place finish with an overall time of 23:21:80. Behind Werley, senior Sergey Sushchikh and junior Austin O’Neal rounded out the men’s top-three scorers, placing 11th and 31st respectively.
On the other side of the field, the unranked women’s team finished 10th overall in the final standings and was led by freshman Julia Rizk, who was the Bruins’ top finisher. Rizk placed 35th with a time of 20:37:90 in the women’s 6K.
Up next for UCLA will be a trip to Madison, Wis., where the Bruins will return to the trail on Oct. 16 in the Wisconsin adidas Invitational.
