They weren’t the first, but don’t hold it against these other
parks. A wide array of Halloween-themed activities await students
who have been to Knott’s Scary Farm and are looking for something
new. The following events all offer Halloween thrills for those who
are tall enough to get funny looks if they go trick-or-treating.
Ranging from super scary to just plain silly, a handful of haunted
experiences lurk just around the corner in L.A. and neighboring
cities.
Disneyland’s Mickey’s Halloween Treat: Oct. 24-25, and 29-31. 7
p.m. Â midnight. TIX: $25 adults and $20 kids.
Disneyland’s event will feature trick-or-treat locations, eerie
special effects, 600 pounds of jack-o-lanterns, live ghosts, and a
flying witch on her broomstick. The emphasis will be on
entertaining younger children, but there will surely be a fair
scare of "good scares" in the classic Disney sense.
Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Fright Fest: Oct. 11-13, 18-20, 25-27
and 31. TIX: $33 adults, $19 seniors and $15 kids.
Though the park is known for its thrilling roller coasters, it
now turns the emphasis to such spooky and goofy shows as "Tweety’s
Twick O’ Tweat Adventure" (for kids) and Bad Bob the Bone Butcher
(for big kids). Even Colossus, Magic Mountain’s famous wooden
roller coaster, joins in the Halloween spirit by sporting a 50-foot
tall black spider.
Universal Studios’ Chamber of Chills: Nightly through Nov. 2. 7
p.m  closing. $8 adults.
Universal Studios enters the Halloween frenzy for the first time
this year, transforming the glitzy Universal City Walk into a
spooky extravaganza. The event features a 15-minute walk through
Haunted House Experience, created in part by Imagine
Entertainment.
Nightscares Haunted House: Wednesdays through Sundays 6pm Â
midnight. $9. Ventura Freeway (101) and Kanan Road exit.
Enchanted All Hallow’s Eve Revel: Oct. 25 and 26. $8.50.
Hollywood American Legion, 2035 Highland Ave., one block south of
Hollywood Bowl.
