UCLA appointed an attorney and managing campus counsel to serve as interim vice chancellor of legal affairs beginning Oct. 3, according to a UCLA statement released Friday.
As the vice chancellor of legal affairs, L. Amy Blum will represent UCLA in lawsuits and provide legal consultation to Chancellor Gene Block and other administrators. Kevin Reed, the current vice chancellor of legal affairs, will leave UCLA for his new job at the University of Oregon.
Blum was promoted to senior campus counsel in 2008 and then to managing campus counsel after serving as an attorney at the UCLA Office of the Campus Counsel since 2004. The vice chancellor of legal affairs oversees the Office of the Campus Counsel, which provides legal support to university clients such as administrators and faculty.
Reed will serve as chief legal adviser under the title of vice president and general counsel at the University of Oregon beginning Oct. 5.
