UCPD looking for woman responsible for stealing another woman’s purse

University police are searching for a woman who stole another woman’s purse on Sepulveda Boulevard south of National Boulevard and then fled in a car Wednesday afternoon.

The woman approached the second woman at about 2:15 p.m. near 3241 Sepulveda Boulevard and asked for her purse, according to a UCPD statement. When the second woman refused and attempted to leave, the first woman pulled the purse out of the second woman’s hands.

The first woman then ran into the passenger seat of a dark green, four-door compact sedan and fled southbound on Sepulveda Boulevard.

The second woman reported minor injuries.

The first woman was described as black, 5 feet 6 inches tall, about 180 pounds and about 30 years old. She was wearing a light-colored shirt and light-colored pants.

Neither woman is affiliated to UCLA.

This incident occurred near graduate student university housing.

UCPD recommends students not walk alone at night, have a friend accompany them, keep in contact with a friend and report anything suspicious.

No further information was immediately available. The case is still under investigation.
