CRIME WATCH Â 5 Vehicles stolen $8,025
Grand theft $4,416 Petty theft
Petty theft Four parking permits, two license
plates and $2,102 in bags, wallets and cell phones were stolen in
the last two weeks. Someone stole a $46 pair of shoes from an
employee lounge at the Center for Health Sciences on March 27. A
wallet and Palm Pilot, worth a total of $350, were stolen from the
basketball courts at Hershey Hall on March 24. Someone stole a $40
bicycle from the parking lot behind Jerry’s Famous Deli in
Westwood on March 23. That same day, a $1,400 stereo was stolen
from a car in the Sunset Village parking lot. Someone broke into a
locker and stole $8 in coins from a laundry room on the 3000 block
of Sawtelle Boulevard on March 22. A $200 silk jacket was stolen
from the Center for Health Sciences on March 22.
Grand theft Five vehicles were reported stolen
this past period. Someone stole a $525 bicycle from a rack near
Ackerman Union on Wednesday. Someone removed a $5,000 projector
from the Graduate School of Education & Information Studies on
March 23. A $2,500 laptop computer was stolen from Perloff Hall
between March 15 and 21.
Miscellaneous A woman who had resigned from the
Olympic Analytical Lab was cleaning out her office Thursday and was
allegedly taking things that belong to the university, including
confidential lab printouts. Someone spray painted a 1995 GMC Senoma
with an unknown substance between 1:30 and 5:30 p.m. on March 27.
That same day, someone broke the window of a 2001 Honda Accord
parked on the 3000 block of Sawtelle Boulevard. A man was trying to
enter an apartment on the 10,000 block of Strathmore Avenue around
4:05 p.m. on March 25. A man was heard singing in a women’s
restroom at the Center for Health Sciences March 24. Later that
day, a man attempted to file a bike chain with a saw at California
Pizza Kitchen on Broxton Avenue. Police received a report on March
23 that an unauthorized person may have entered and rearranged
furniture at the UCLA School of Law Library 20 years ago. Police
received a report on March 21 that a man matching the description
of an assault suspect was seen near Boelter Hall the week
before.
