CRIME WATCH Â 3 Vehicles stolen $10,750
Grand theft $7,135 Petty theft
Petty theft Five cellular phones, two parking
permits and a number of backpacks and wallets were stolen this
period, totaling a loss of $2,035. Three stereos and miscellaneous
items were stolen from eight vehicles last week, totaling a loss of
more than $4,230. Someone stole a $300 jacket from the Graduate
School of Education & Information Studies on Friday. Someone
cashed a fraudulent check for $250 at the University Credit Union
on Wednesday. Also, someone stole a $320 bicycle near the Public
Policy Building on Tuesday.
Grand theft Someone stole a laptop computer
from the Engineering Building Friday. Another laptop was stolen
from the Anderson School the same day. Someone stole Spectralink
phones worth $600 from the Center for Health Sciences on Friday.
Someone stole a $600 bicycle outside the Men’s Gym on
Wednesday. A red Toyota 4-Runner parked on Venice Boulevard and a
white 1995 Toyota 4-Runner on Sunset Boulevard were stolen last
week. Also, a white 1998 Acura Integra parked on Gayley and Veteran
Avenues was stolen Jan. 29 and recovered by the LAPD on Wilshire
Boulevard the following day. A blue 1996 Suzuki was stolen from the
Sunset Village parking structure on Jan. 28. Someone forged $2,900
in checks against the Geffen Playhouse bank account Jan. 29 and
30.
Miscellaneous Police received a report Sunday
of a prowler entering a window on Glenrock Avenue. Police received
reports of a man looking into the windows at Saxon Suites on
Saturday. A man offered free cable service to a resident on
Landfair Avenue on Wednesday. The man then asked for a layout of
the apartment and offered the resident a $100 bill. Someone
spraypainted graffiti on the east side of the Southern Regional
Library Facility some time between Jan. 27 and 28.
