President Barack Obama’s visit to cause several road closures

President Barack Obama’s visit to West Los Angeles this week will cause several road closures near UCLA, including Wilshire Boulevard and Hilgard Avenue, according to an L.A. Police Department alert.

Obama is traveling to the area to hold an event at Cross Campus, a Santa Monica facility for start-up businesses, and to attend a Democratic National Convention event, according to a White House statement.

Here are the expected closures:

  • Hilgard Avenue will be closed between Le Conte and Weyburn Avenues from 8 a.m. Thursday to 6 p.m. Friday.
  • The Metro Bus Orange Line route 2/302 will be cancelled on Hilgard Avenue between Le Conte and Weyburn Avenues from 11 a.m. Thursday to 4 p.m. Friday.

Thursday

  • The area around Wilshire Boulevard in Westwood between Sawtelle Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • The area around Beverly Glen Boulevard between Sunset Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Friday

  • The area around Wilshire Boulevard between Veteran Avenue and Comstock Avenue from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
  • The area around Beverly Glen Boulevard between Ashton Avenue and Bellagio Road from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
  • The area around Sunset Boulevard between Hilgard Avenue and Carolwood Drive from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • The area around Beverly Glen Boulevard between Bellagio Road and Pico Boulevard from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
