UCLA’s URSA and Financial Aid Office websites will tentatively be discontinued this spring because their features are now fully integrated into MyUCLA, officials said last week.
Multiple campus departments have been working since 2011 to combine MyUCLA, URSA, the schedule of classes and Financial Aid Office services into a single website to make the sites easier to navigate.
“The primary intent of the project was to provide a more integrated experience for students so that online tasks could be performed without the need to visit multiple sites,” said Arun Pasricha, the director of student affairs information technology in the UCLA Registrar’s Office, in an email statement.
Austin Vaziri, a third-year sociology student, said he thinks that the change is a positive step because it will compile multiple resources in one online location.
“It’s one less site to have to worry about, it keeps everything clean,” he said.
During the streamlining project, information found on the websites will not be lost and the login process will stay the same.
Keanu Andico, a second-year biochemistry student, said he thinks the combination of sites will not have dramatic effect on him, and that some students initially overreact to changes.
“People are usually hesitant to change, but once it happens, give it half a year and people aren’t going to talk about it anymore,” Andico said.
