Various campus media outlets and undergraduate student leaders will hold a panel discussion Wednesday night in order to gauge what students care about and want to see from them.
The Undergraduate Students Association Council, the On-Campus Housing Council, the Daily Bruin and campus newsmagazines will host the event, which is set to take place in De Neve auditorium from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. All students can attend.
“We want to figure out what the big issues are that are going on
and hopefully find a way to help,” said Jillian Beck, editor in chief of the Daily Bruin.
The newsmagazines present at the event will be La Gente, Nommo, Al-Talib, OutWrite, Ha’Am, Pacific Ties and FEM.
“We’re hoping that this town hall can help provide insight into what the role of (USAC) and student media is,” said USAC President John Joanino.
Beck said she decided to plan the community forum at the end of last school year.
She organized the event with Joanino, Beck added.
At the town hall meeting, students will be able to ask members of the different organizations questions and give feedback to student leaders.
Beck said she hopes to hold another community forum next quarter and plans to adjust the event’s organization depending on student feedback after Wednesday night.
