The Westwood Brewing Company will close its doors sometime between Aug. 30 and Sept. 15, the restaurant’s management announced Saturday on Facebook.
The popular bar and restaurant, commonly know as Brew Co., has been a staple in Westwood and the UCLA community for almost two decades. As the Village’s first microbrewery on the corner of Glendon and Kinross avenues, Brew Co. used to brew its own award-winning ale in 700-gallon copper and stainless steel tanks.
The upcoming closure is the result of the owner’s desire to focus on other projects, said the store’s general manager, George Workman, in May. He added that the bar’s profits have slowly declined over the last few years.
The space will be filled by The Boiling Crab, a seafood chain, said Steve Sann, the chair of the Westwood Community Council, in May.

Wasn’t it supposed to close mid-July, then late-July, then late-August, and now September 15?
