Crime watch
Dorm life
A suspect was reported brandishing a weapon outside Delta
Terrace late Saturday night. The suspect was reportedly seen with a
handgun in his belt before he fled on foot toward the Sunset
Village parking structure.
Two suspects were cited Wednesday night for smoking marijuana
near the south stairwell on the seventh floor of Sproul Hall.
Police booked a joint and a pipe as evidence.
Three days later, again in the south stairwell of Sproul Hall,
the scent of marijuana smoke was reported on the fifth floor.
Theft
In the largest theft of the week, $250,000 worth of computers
were stolen from a van while it was parked in the Medical Center
parking structure last Friday.
A single computer worth $10,000 was stolen from Melnitz Hall
last Monday, leaving no sign of forced entry.
A burglary at 700 Levering Ave. was reported Nov 11, although it
happened on Nov. 6.
The suspect entered the apartment by prying open the balcony
door, and then removed lingerie and personal journals from the
apartment.
The Police booked a photo as evidence in the case.
Cars
A 1986 Chevrolet Celebrity was stolen from Veteran Avenue, just
south of Sunset Boulevard last Wednesday.
The Chevrolet was recovered Saturday.
Last Thursday, a 1994 Honda Civic was stolen from Lot 30.
On Strathmore Avenue last Friday, a thief smashed in the
passenger-side window of a 1997 Nissan truck in order to steal the
radio.
On Tuesday, a laptop was stolen from a Toyota Tercel parked on
Hilgard Avenue. The suspect entered the car by breaking the front
driver-side window.
The same day, a burglar broke the passenger-side window of a
Honda CRX, also parked on Hilgard, to reach a purse inside the
car.
Five parking permits and two parking access cards were also
stolen from cars parked on campus last week.
