Crimewatch
Ten USC students were discovered attempting to attach a sign
reading "I love USC" to the Bruin Bear late Friday night.
Three UCPD officers responded to the call, two of whom are UCLA
alumni.
The officers interviewed Scott Hall, Benjamin Lucas, Andrew
Still, Taiki Esheim, Steven Okimoto, Steve Geiger, Gary Banks,
Charles Norman Heintz, Oscar Ramallo and Justin Eric Verduyn and
confiscated their sign, but did not take any of them into
custody.
Last Tuesday, UCPD responded to a call from the chancellor’s
residence on Sunset Blvd.
Officers arrested Dale Milton Long, 53, who was in possession of
a crack pipe, and was seen sleeping in the bushes outside the
chancellor’s home.
A reporter from The Globe was reported to be walking through a
restricted area in the Center for Health Sciences last Tuesday.
The reporter, Paul Yaldie, did not have the necessary
authorization to be in the area, and was picked up by UCPD
officers.
Eight toilets were reported stolen from UCLA-Santa Monica
Hospital on Friday.
The toilets were stolen from the second floor tower with no sign
of forced entry, and were worth $3,046.
Four backpacks worth over $750 were stolen from outside the
Covel Commons cafeteria this week.
Backpacks were also stolen from Engineering 4 and Powell
Library.
An electronic organizer worth $300 was stolen from a safety box
in Sproul Hall last Monday, and in Saxon Suites, a cell phone worth
$150 was stolen.
A call from 520 Kelton last Monday reported a naked man sitting
outside the building.
The caller described him as a white male, 20- to 30-years-old
and bald.
The same day, one incident of lewd conduct in a public place was
reported in a Royce Hall men’s room.
Friday, a 19-year-old man was picked up by university police at
Sproul Hall after he allegedly committed an act of indecent
exposure at Ackerman Union.
