UCPD searching for man reported to be loitering in women’s restrooms

A man was seen loitering in women’s restrooms inside Kaufman Hall and Murphy Hall Monday afternoon, according to a university police report released Wednesday.

About 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, police said the man was seen in a restroom on the second floor of Kaufman Hall. About 4:35 p.m., a similarly described man was reported in a women’s restroom in Murphy Hall.

When the man was confronted, he reportedly fled the bathroom and left the area in an unknown direction.

The man was described in the report as Hispanic or white, in his mid-20s, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches, with a stocky build.

He had dark hair with a buzz cut, had dark eyebrows, was wearing a dark long-sleeved shirt or windbreaker with an emblem, and was wearing mid-ankle length leather boots, at the time of the incident, according to the report.

Police recommend that students be aware of their surroundings and call police if they see anybody acting suspiciously.

The information is currently under investigation. Anyone with information can call UCPD at (310) 825-9371.
