Crime Watch

Petty theft Two parking permits, a wallet and
two cellular phones were reported stolen last week. The total loss
was $630. Someone broke into a white 1995 Jeep Cherokee on the 400
block of Veteran Avenue on Sunday and stole a $300 stereo. Someone
stole $145 in miscellaneous bicycle equipment from A-Level of
Ackerman Union on Saturday. Someone stole a bag containing a
cellular phone, sweat pants, shirt and cash, worth a total of $200,
from the Men’s Gym on Feb. 6. Someone stole a $150
men’s shaver and keychain from a car in Lot 32 on Feb. 5.

Grand theft Someone reported a white 1993 Honda
Civic stolen from Lot 4 Friday, but police recovered it on Monday.
A briefcase worth $1,200 was removed from an unlocked office in
Hershey Hall on Friday. That same day, someone stole a $450 Palm
Pilot from Dickson Art Center. A cellular phone and Palm Pilot
worth $500 were stolen from the Peter V. Ueberroth Building on
Thursday. Someone stole two cellular phones, worth a total of
$1,600, from the Center for Health Sciences on Wednesday. That same
day, someone stole a computer LANMeter worth $18,000 from the 900
block of Westwood Boulevard. Someone broke into a white 1992 Honda
Accord on the 700 block of Gayley Avenue and stole a stereo,
speakers, CDs and sunglasses valued at $1,000.

Miscellaneous Two people engaged in lewd
conduct in a car in Lot RC near Sunset Village on Thursday. A
transient loitered around the women’s rest rooms on the third
floor of Melnitz Hall on Wednesday. Someone attempted to gain
access to UCLA computer files in Boelter Hall on Feb. 6. Two men
tampered with bicycles on the 800 block of Tiverton Avenue on Feb.
6. Also, someone threw an orange through a window on the 500 block
of Landfair Avenue. That same day, a man threatened to leave a bomb
at an undisclosed location after the campus operator was unable to
provide him with employee information.
