De Neve, Crossroads, Hedrick and Bruin Café are just some of our many dining halls and eateries, but lately there have been many changes made to the normal eating routine.
Hedrick is the dining hall that has made the most modifications, both in its hours of operation and in its menu.
The new hours, which are now only Monday through Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, 5 to 8 p.m., have enraged many Hedrick inhabitants, who said they already walk far distances to class and now must walk further for meals.
“The shortening of the hours has been difficult with me living in Hedrick because now it is so hard to get a healthy meal that is still convenient,” said Samantha Hemingway, a second-year neuroscience student.
However, not all of the changes at Hedrick have been negatively received. Though Hedrick Hall now only offers dinner, they do offer an all-organic salad bar.
De Neve has also been modified with the addition of its late-night hours and menu to replace the no-longer extant Crossroads Cafe.
“I hate that they don’t have Crossroads anymore because you can’t get a good late-night snack. They also have the best burgers and curly fries anywhere,” said Shelby Pemberton, a second-year business economics student.
Still, Hemingway and Pemberton said they liked the new options available to them in the dining halls and Bruin Cafe.
De Neve’s new hours have replaced the late-night hours that Crossroads was open, and De Neve offers some of the same menu options such as cheeseburgers and chili-cheese fries, but none of the shakes that were available at Crossroads.
Many of the dining hall menus have some new changes.
Bruin Cafe has made a majority of these adjustments that include new fruit such as pineapple in the yogurt parfaits and a new pita sandwich, as well as a new Southwestern salad.
Among the changes that have come to all of the take-out restaurants are the new pre-packaged individual utensils.
Before, students could freely grab as many utensils as they wished.
Now, with every meal students order at Bruin Cafe, they are given a fork and knife packaged in a small plastic bag.
