Agenda

“¢bull; Council approved third-year history and Chicana and Chicano studies student Daniel Gayton as a member of Community Service Mini Fund Committee. Gayton was nominated by Dai Troung, who is the chair of the Community Service Mini Fund Committee. There will be two more appointments made at the USAC meeting on Tuesday.

“¢bull; Council approved contingency allocations. Council also approved Academic Success Referendum Funds, the Academic Affairs Mini-Grant, Travel Grants and Cultural Affairs Mini-Grant.

New Business

“¢bull; USAC Town Hall

A USAC Town Hall was proposed at the meeting to set a stage in which students can address concerns due to budget cuts. The town hall will take place as a conversation between the administration, the faculty and the students to address such issues proactively. Council is still deciding on a date when the town hall will take place.

Officer Reports

“¢bull; Internal Vice President Evan Shulman

All the “green” groups on campus are part of the “Green Council” that will be holding a day of action in the spring. Shulman will be proposing legislation for direct actions regarding green initiatives in the spring.

“¢bull; Financial Supports Commissioner Elaine Reodica

Reodica said there are two more weeks until the deadline to apply for the $250 textbook scholarship. The application deadline is Nov. 28, and the winners of the scholarship will be announced by the end of Week 10.

“¢bull; External Vice President Jesse Melgar

Melgar is looking for students to still sign up for the Student of Color Conference taking place Nov. 21-23.

Melgar said the EVP office will be covering registration fees for interested UCLA students. Melgar said that more than 450 students from across UC campuses are scheduled to attend the conference.
