CRIME WATCH 2 Vehicles stolen $1,500 Grand
theft $1,929 Petty theft

Petty theft Three parking permits, three
cellular phones and several bags were stolen last week, incurring a
total loss of $660. Police received two reports last week of people
breaking into cars parked in the garages on Kelton and Veteran
Avenues. The culprits took off with a stereo or CD player. The
total loss was $600. Someone entered an apartment by removing the
screen from an open window Friday and stole a purse, cellular phone
and CD player worth a total of $300. Police received a report
Friday that someone had charged an estimated $300 to another
person’s credit card without their authorization last month.
A man shortchanged a cashier at Jamba Juice in Westwood on
Thursday, causing the business to lose $39. Police received a
report on Oct. 10 that someone had stolen a $30 radio from a
building on the 700 block of Tiverton Avenue.

Grand theft A black 1991 Honda Civic and a
white 1993 Acura Legend were stolen from Lots 4 and 2,
respectively, last week. Someone removed the window screen of a
room in Saxon Suites and stole a Nintendo system, four games, and a
CD player Wednesday. The loss was $500. Police received a report
Wednesday that someone broke into a car on the 1000 block of
Broxton Avenue and stole university keys, a modem, Palm Pilot,
access card and a bag. The total loss was $1,000.

Miscellaneous Police received five reports of
misdemeanor hit-and-runs last week. Police received a secondhand
report of a man exposing himself at Hitch Suites at 1:16 a.m. on
Sunday. Police warned and advised a man against urinating in public
Friday afternoon at the University Extension on Lindbrook Drive.
Someone reportedly exited their car and walked over to kick and try
to open the door of a passing vehicle near Gayley and Weyburn
Avenues early Thursday evening. At 5:34 a.m. Wednesday, a man
reportedly told a woman as she entered the lunch room on the fourth
floor of the MacDonald Medical Research Lab to come on in and not
scream. The woman ran down the hall and called the police.
