A fundraising effort led by a graduate of the UCLA School of Dentistry has established a new endowed chair to support the recruitment and retention of faculty in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Dr. Howard Park, a part-time faculty member who graduated from the UCLA School of Dentistry’s postgraduate training program in 1998, led 20 alumni and supporters to fund the Alumni and Friends Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Endowed Chair. An endowed chair is the highest academic position that can be awarded to a faculty member.

One of the donors for the chair is BioHorizons, a company that manufactures dental implants and medical equipment.

The gift is part of the UCLA Centennial Campaign that aims to raise $4.2 billion in donations to fund student and faculty support, research and capital projects by December 2019.
